Merry Christmas dear family and friends. To celebrate the birth of the Savior, Justin drew this picture on the white board in Papa Kelsey's. I hope we all remember what the season is for.

...so, my mom visited me a couple of weeks ago and we decided to take a short trip to a city close by (only 2hour away from Leuven, Belgium - where I'm currently studying. Guess where we went!!??)

Crazy...

Let me begin by setting the scene...It's monday around 12:30 in the afternoon. I've just finished my work week (fri, sat, sun 7pm-7am) and am trying desperately to stay awake with my two boys who have bad coughs, terrible congestion and runny noses. A miracle occurs and for the first time in two months, both boys are down for naps at the same time. Finally, I might actually get an hour or two of sleep during my 30+ hours I have to stay awake.

Alright...little bit of backtracking. Our neighbors across the street moved to another city to be closer to their jobs. Their house has been for sale for about 6 months now. The sign went down last week and they have been moving left over stuff out over the past few days.

Back to my story...I have been asleep for about 20 minutes now. Hard, dead to the world sleep. In fact, I was riding a ferris wheel in my dream. Suddenly I am jolted out of bed by a VERY loud noise. I am totally disoriented. It is MJ. That's right. Michael Jackson. Thriller to be exact. So loud my windows are shaking. Where in the world is it coming from??? Alarm clock? Stereo? No...the neighbors. Their truck has all four doors open and their customized stereo is up to the max. Seriously?! I drag my sorry looking, legging, pajama shirt, no make-up, crazy haired, glasses, barefoot self across the street.

Just the wife is there. I walk up very nervous. I am not one to start a confrontation. Upon seeing me she sarcastically says, "Yeah?"

"I am so sorry to bother you, but I just came off night shift and got both of my sick boys asleep. Would you mind turning the music down just a little?"

"WELL I'M HAVING A REALLY BAD DAY. WE'RE FORECLOSING ON OUR HOUSE AND I'M SICK OF THE DRUG ADDICTS ON THE CORNER AND NOSY NEIGHBORS!"

"I'm so sorry! I had no idea. My boys are just really sick and I need them to sleep."

'WELL IT AIN'T A PERFECT WORLD, IS IT? GET AWAY FROM MY HOUSE AND OFF MY PROPERTY!"

At this point I turn and walk back across the street. All the while she is yelling profanities at me. She actually turns the music all the way off and finishes with, "THANKS FOR RUINING MY DAY!"

Seriously? Did that just happen? I was a little worked up by the whole ordeal, I won't lie. I was waiting for her to follow me back to my house, key our car, you get the idea.

Needless to say, Graham is now awake and I won't have the relief I was hoping for until 9 tonight. Fantastic.

Jackie Birthday

Happy birthday to my wonderful wife of 40 years. Today she turned ?? years old. She would say 30 but the math there doesn't work right, not when we have a child that is 38. I hope she has a great day.

Westward Bound!

We will be moving to Arizona by the end of the year!!! We are so excited. Jason's hard work and persistence has paid off. An ad agency in Mesa should be giving us their written offer by the end of the week and then we will have specific dates. I know this is still far from a lot of extended fam, but we are so grateful to be moving close to my parents and some siblings. Hooray! Anybody want to rent our house in Charleston?!

Preston's 7th Bday

Justin and Patricia had a surprise bday party for Preston and he loved it. Notice the toothless smile. Justin and Patricia should go into the cake making business cause they are really good at it. Here is a sample of the Harry Potter cake they made for Preston.

So it's been a while...

It's been a while since the family heard anything from the Pincocks, and since I'm sitting here at CSI with no one to tutor I thought I'd drop a note by. I'm sure all of you have got pictures of little Chad on your phones (ahh...the wonder that is the cell phone; you can send txt's to twitter now, how did we live before mass interconnectivity?) but here's a couple more for you guys to enjoy.

And what's baby pictures without a funny story or two? Little Buckwheat (my nickname for my son; seeing as for the entirety of my life I have been Buckwheat to my twin sister, I found it an apt name for him, although I tend to alternate between Lit' Buck, Whit, Chad 2, Chad the sequel, and bud (the last being a name I call all little boys, not sure why)), this last week, was not able to dispose of his waste properly, and after having gone 4 whole days without release Becca took him to the doctor to get a laxative. "It's normal" Dr. Graham said, "His colon just works too good." Comforting words for my wife, who, rightly so, worries about pretty much everything lit' C'Dub does. Dr. Graham forgot to mention, however, that this laxative (and I know first hand that all laxative's, including the great tasting, fast moving, Prune juice, do this, but thats for another post, one I'm sure Becca...if she ever reads this...would love to post for you guys and nominate me for a Kay Family Award) creates a raging torrent of crap, the like of which I'm sure will be involved with the battle of Gog and Magog, entering the stage somewhere around the time the Jew's realize they killed the Right guy. 5 diapers later, (to be read: 30 minutes of loud squishing noises and nasty hugs for our noses) my little bud was feeling much better and laughing like a monkey who just stole a banana from a rather bewilderedly hungry ape. Mommy and Daddy on the other hand, for those of you who have seen the Robin Williams movie 'RV", had just relived the "Shower of Sorrow" scene. For those of you who haven't...there's nothing like baby poop to get you up and running in the morning.

I've gotta get a picture of him in his overalls to post. Goodnight he's a cutie.

Toddler years...

Rhett has long ago reached that lovely destructive, mischeivious stage that all parents dread.  So I thought I would share a few things that have happened in just the last week.

1. threw jar of pickles off the counter

2. destroyed anthill...no big deal...eats anthill...ahhhhhh!

3. eats pack of rolaids

4. shatters glass pitcher

5. opens can of chili...pours down white shirt 

6.  learns how to open child locked doors...escapes outside and makes a run for it while I am in my garments

7.  figures out how to climb on top of changing table...eats A&D

8. refuses to eat any food, but will devour crayons, bugs, dirt, medicine, cleaner, lotion, and hairspray

9.  Helps clean up by putting anything he can in the kitchen sink, especially diapers

10. Successfully transitions into toddler bed!!!  Hooray!!!

If this little boy wasn't so darn cute I don't know what we'd do with him!

Kay boys fishing trip

The boys decided to do an annual get-a-way trip and this year went fishing. We went on july 31 and Aug 1 when it rained so danged hard. We got rained out but still had a good time. We started on the south fork of the Boise and ended up at Halverson. Some of the pictures in reverse order are of the whole group, Logan doing a pretty good job of fly casting, Justin Hyer helping undo a rats nest in one of the boys lines, Logan letting Justin Kay's fish go ect. Other than the 1.25 hour drive around the reservoir on a one lane road and a steep drop off, it was great. The photo on top is of the biggest bluegill I've ever caught and Huistean showed where it was.

Hard Work at the Kay Family Reunion!

He did what I told him to.

I tell Tate, "I'm going to tell you your spelling words and you write them on the back of your spelling word paper cuz you can't see the word you are writing ." I give him the word and I see him close his eyes and write the word on the paper (pretty good with eyes closed). I'm thinking, wow, that's some major concentration. I ask, "Tate why are you closing your eyes?" Tate said, "you told me I could't see the word that I'm writing!

Tate's first day of First Grade

Tate's first day of First grade. He's most excited to have lunch and recess. I'm such a worrier, he was pretty clingy this morning. I hope he has a good day, and makes friends easily. I'll cry if his first day is bad for him.

Private Blog

Just so you all know...my BLOG is now private. I sent about 65 invites already to emails that I had. More Reunion

Update on the 2007 babies

We were missing one of our "07 in 07" babies here is an update of the others.

Hey all here are a few photos from our Kay Family Reunion. It was great to see everyone and we missed those of you who couldn't make it. A special thanks to Dane and Jan for being so gracious to let us use the "party house" It is so wonderful to be a part of such an AWESOME family. Love to all.

The power was out when we got home for dinner. Soooo.... We grilled hamburgers outside (well Todd did in the rain and wind) lol He's such a trooper. Then we ate in the house by candlelight. Tate asked if we were having dinner like a "fancy restaurant". I said, "Sure! We are having dinner by candlelight!" The kids were excited. I asked them what our fancy restaurant should be named. I suggested the "Spaulding Inn" I should have known that was not cool enough for Tate. So Tate suggested "Kirbees". For those of you that don't know, Kirby is a video game character.

Let me tell ya.... not knowing when our power would be back on, it made me think about emergency preparedness. We were not really prepared to spend the night in the dark. So I think next time, we will be.
