California Sunset

Thought you all would like to see what a California sunset looks like. We had a day at Disneyland and a day at Universal Studios. We still have two more days of Disneyland and one at Sea World. So that will keep us busy, which will make it even harder to come back to reality. But we do miss our boys and are excited to see them soon.

Some sights in Cleveland!

Whit and I decided one evening last week to drive to a lookout at Lake Erie to watch the sunset. We walked down and out onto the rock path that went out about 50 feet from the shore. If you look behind us you can see another lookout in the water that is like the one we went out on. It was so spectacular to see a beautiful sunset with my honey! This weekend we spent about 4 hours walking around and touring through some neat historical sights in downtown Cleveland. The next few pictures are in front of the Soldiers and Sailors monument which honors those from this county who served in the Civil War. There were about 9,000 names of those who served in this county alone in the Civil War. The tour guide was very knowledgable!

This is a cool statue/water fountain that we just had to get a picture of. Yes, I am a dork (most of the time! :) )
A fabulous lookout near the bike path that Whit takes to work. Isn't it a lovely sight? I think so!

OHIO....2400 miles later!

Whit and I finally arrived in Ohio on Tuesday last week. 2400 miles! We stopped at Notre Dame University to walk around their campus. The campus at Notre Dame is absolutely beautiful!

This is in front of our new 'home' away from home for this summer during Whit's internship. I interviewed for a job on Wednesday and 1 hour after my interview I got a call with acceptance of a job. I am working as a data entry specialist and it is very very very mind numbingly boring- but I am happy and grateful for the job success and it is perfect for me - actually - because I don't have to be on the phone or talking which helps my voice. Whit is doing well thus far in his research and internship and we are loving our time together.
This is Whit and I at a NASA open house for the public yesterday due to the 50 year anniversary of NASA GLENN research center. It was very neat to see the many different projects at NASA.
On our way home from church today we saw a street with my name and had to - of course - get a picture! Hope all is well. We will keep you posted with more pics and updates. We don't have access to internet at home, only at the library, so posting has become a little harder to do often but nevertheless we will keep you all updated. Love you all and miss you!

Fun Site

My Aunt Cindy told us about a neat little website with lots of crazy holidays to celebrate. Kind of fun if you like to plan weird parties (like us) or even come up with fun ideas to do with your kids. For some reason I can't get the link to work so you will just have to type it in. It is www.brownielocks.com. This Friday is National Pizza Party day. It was not hard to convince my co-workers to celebrate this one! By the way, where is everyone??? Roch and Whit are pulling into Cleavland today. They are going to be renting out a bedroom in an older lady's home. I am nervous for them! I hope it goes okay and she doesn't make them bathe her cats or something! I will be requesting the movie Duplex from Netflix to watch this weekend in honor of their exciting summer to come.

Rhett has had a sinus infection. Yuck! He is still happy as ever, though. We planted some Dahlia bulbs and thanks to Megan's wealth of knowledge our plants are 6 in. high! Wahoo! We also planted some seeds this weekend (late for here, oh well), but we had crazy tornado, monsoon weather and I am afraid they have blown/washed away. Time will tell. I had no idea SC got so many tornadoes. One night we had over 30! This last weekend the tornadoes were about 5-10 miles from our house. The LOUD thunder and crazy lightning woke me up, but I didn't think anything of it. I suppose we should pay more attention to the weather radio here. People were holed up in their bathtubs and we were just cozy in bed sleeping right through it.

It seems the "to-do" list is always expanding and never shrinking. Our big projects for the weekend are painting (and more painting and more painting) and putting up 3 ceiling fans. Just putting up blinds last weekend ALMOST caused some foul words from Jason! Guaranteed if it was me they would have just come out. Must have something to do with my Kay and Mortensen gene combo.

At any rate, we miss all ya'll.

From Arizona to Kansas

So Thursday Whitney and I began our adventure to Ohio. We have made it to Kansas and today we will be traveling to Nauvoo, Illinois. Check out our blog for more pics!
This picture below is just outside of Los Alamos, New Mexico. Awhile back there was a terrible controlled burn that got a little 'out of control' and burned a lot of area around Los Alamos, but it is still a beautiful mountainous area of the country. Quaint little town.

Taos, New Mexico- some very old Adobe homes.
Yeah Colorado...I really wanted a picture of Kansas when we arrived and also New Mexico- but Whit advised that it was not safe to pull over and take pictures on the side of the freeway. This state sign was-however-well off to the side of the road, thus preventing myself or Whit from becoming road kill. So...of course we stopped to take a picture. We are now in Kansas after 15 hours of driving. I love having my best friend along...it makes the trip so much more enjoyable!

Family Re-union

So, the family reunion is coming up on us fast, July 18th-20th. Who is ready? Do you all have you work schedules arranged so you can attend and participate? I vow to slap stupid anyone who fails to attend, and if I can't do it, which might be the case with most of you, Sam can (I respectfully refer to the Mickey Hatt incident as to her qualifications regarding this ability).

We would like to have an agenda planned that would include activities for everyone, some for the women (Does nagging count?), some for the men (Golf) and some for the kids. There has been talk of a talent show (independent displays of farting and belching do not count towards this, although they may recieve honorable mention). Start planning something now, practice and there may be a prize.
